My passions in life revolve around my faith, my family and my ongoing education. Through all my rewarding roles of being a wife, mother and teacher I am constantly learning more about myself and the world around me. During the weekends, you’ll find me spending time with my family, reading a good book, doing yoga, or playing with our very rambunctious yellow lab, “Tank.” This year has been filled with many blessings, including the opportunity to teach at Laconia High School and join the Rosendale-Brandon community. I am also excited to announce that my family and I will be receiving the biggest blessing of all by welcoming to the family our newest addition in February of 2015!
I grew up in Wales, Wisconsin, which is a small town outside of Waukesha. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with degrees in Secondary English Education and Language and Literature Studies. For the past two years I was the Title I Reading teacher at a private high school in Milwaukee. I am currently working on my Professional Development Plan which is to provide all students with interest-based reading materials at all levels. It is my hope to one day gain my Reading Specialist License and/or a Masters in Reading Education.
When I was 5 years old, I knew I was going to be a teacher. I played “school” with my stuffed animals and dolls on a daily basis, but I never really knew what I wanted to teach. When I was in high school, I had an English teacher who recognized my talent for writing and my ability to reach out to others. It was this teacher who asked if I had ever considered being an English teacher and inspired a dream in me.
I hope to provide my students with a passion for learning. While high school is filled with challenges, it is also filled with amazing opportunities for growth. It is within these opportunities that we discover our passions and our talents. I want my students to not only learn, but to love learning. After all, learning is a life-long process… might as well enjoy it!
